Blippex

Blippex is a unique community driven search engine. Rather than surreptitiously sneaking around the web gathering information from searchers, they have developed a way for everyone to knowingly volunteer their information anonymously.
Nothing identifiable is passed to blippex for storage ...
Blippex operates through the use of a plugin voluntarily added to your browser that sends information about every page you visit to Blippex. The identified site pages are then made available in a search database as current information for others to locate and use as well. Nothing identifiable is passed to blippex for storage and anything necessary for transfering information that could be identifiable is stripped away before storing the basic stuff needed to make the search engine work.

In addition to deleting the metadata that could tie community members to the URLs they contribute being stripped from contributions immediately, the contributed data itself is deleted after 90 days of not being accessed. This keeps the data inherently fresh and relevent. Contributions are not sent to the Blippex database when a browser is in "private" mode and the Blippex plugin itself can be paused any time.
Blippex will cease to exist if they break the trust relationship needed to be effective.
This not only protects contributors and provides the ability to be discrete in their contributions, it also inherently keeps the database freer from "fringe material" better than other search engines. Generally, people are going to turn off the Blippex send, one way or another, before accessing sites with potential for embarrassing them.

The Blippex search engine works on the same principles of data harvesting as Google in that data has to be gathered in one place to be made available and bring value to the service. Unlike Google however, who's very existance relies on invasively analyzing and profiling your information, Blippex will cease to exist if they break the trust relationship needed to be effective. For that reason "we take your privacy seriously" is not just lip service to start out their privacy policy, their livelihood depends on it.
